What We Supply

Organic Acid Premixes for Pathogen Control, pH Management & Feed Preservation

Organic acids are among the most evidence-backed feed additives in animal nutrition. They work at three levels simultaneously: reducing microbial contamination in the feed itself, lowering gastric pH to activate pepsin and inhibit ingested pathogens, and delivering antimicrobial activity to the intestinal tract where enteric bacteria colonise.

The choice of acid, concentration, buffering, and coating strategy determines where and how the acid works. Formic acid is the most potent against Salmonella. Propionic acid is the most effective mould inhibitor. Fumaric acid improves protein digestibility and feed conversion in swine. Multi-acid combinations exploit the synergistic activity between different organic acid types, while coated formulations extend activity to the distal intestine.

We manufacture across the full range of feed-grade organic acids — uncoated, buffered salt forms, and microencapsulated controlled-release formats — and formulate multi-acid blends to the pathogen profile and production system requirements of your operation.

Regulatory & Quality Standards

EU Feed Additives Regulation 1831/2003 (Preservatives & Hygiene Conditioners)

European approval framework for formic acid, propionic acid, and other organic acids in animal feed.

EFSA Safety Assessment of Organic Acids

European Food Safety Authority systematic safety and efficacy assessments for organic acid feed additives.

BIS IS 1374 / Feed Additives Regulations (India)

Indian Standards for permitted feed preservatives and acidifiers including approved organic acid types and maximum levels.

EU Salmonella Control Regulation (EC/2160/2003)

European Salmonella reduction targets in poultry — formic acid-based acidifiers are an approved tool in national control programmes.

Codex Alimentarius (Organic Acids)

International food additive standards for organic acids applicable to both feed and food applications.

WHO GMP (Current)

Manufacturing quality system governing acid premix production, blending, and batch release.

Feed Acidifier Types We Manufacture

Formic Acid-Based Acidifiers

Buffered sodium formate + formic acid combinations for superior gut-active Salmonella control versus unbuffered acids. pH-buffered forms reduce equipment corrosion risk while maintaining bactericidal efficacy. Supplied as liquid premix concentrates and dry absorbate formats.

Salmonella ControlPoultryFeed Hygiene

Multi-Organic Acid Blends

Synergistic combinations of formic, propionic, citric, and lactic acids targeting both mould and pathogenic bacteria. Broad-spectrum activity against Salmonella, E. coli, and Campylobacter in feed and gut. Liquid and dry powder formats available.

Coated / Encapsulated Organic Acids

Fat-encapsulated organic acid blends with controlled intestinal release for activity in the ileum and large intestine — sites unaffected by uncoated acids absorbed in the proximal gut. Significantly more effective than uncoated forms against post-weaning E. coli diarrhoea in piglets.

Fumaric Acid Feed Grade

High-purity feed-grade fumaric acid for dietary acidification in swine starter feeds. Improves stomach pH, enhances pepsin activity, and increases protein digestibility. Sustained acidifying effect due to slow dissolution rate compared to liquid acids.

Propionic Acid Mould Inhibitors

Calcium propionate and propionic acid-based mould inhibitor premixes for feed preservation during storage and in-feed mould suppression. Critical for high-moisture ingredients (brewers' grains, DDGS, maize silage) and in tropical high-humidity storage conditions.

Aquaculture Acidifier Premixes

Organic acid blends for aquaculture feed and pond water acidification. Feed-incorporated organic acids for pathogen (Vibrio) suppression in shrimp aquaculture. Citric acid and formic acid combinations compatible with aquatic feed pellet and extrudate manufacturing.

Technical Capabilities

How We Manufacture & Validate Feed Acidifiers

Organic acid efficacy depends on the right acid species, concentration, formulation, and delivery. We characterise all three before commercial supply and provide the data so you can verify the product performs as expected in your operation.

Titratable Acid Content & Purity Analysis

Active acid content (as free acid equivalent), pH, and neutralisation value measured by validated titration methods for every commercial batch. Acid identity confirmed by IR spectroscopy.

MIC Testing Against Target Pathogens

Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) testing against Salmonella, E. coli, Campylobacter, and Aspergillus for key acid formulations. Data provided to support your Salmonella HACCP documentation.

Coating Release Profile Testing

Dissolution and acid release profiles for coated formulations at simulated gastric (pH 2) and intestinal (pH 6.8) conditions. Release rate data provided with every batch for quality consistency verification.

Feed Preservation Efficacy Testing

Accelerated mould challenge tests at 25°C/80% RH demonstrating preservation period extension versus untreated control. Aspergillus flavus, A. parasiticus, and Fusarium species challenge data provided.

Equipment Compatibility Assessment

Corrosion potential characterised for liquid acid products against stainless steel and mild steel dosing equipment. Buffered and dry forms recommended for systems with corrosion risk.

GMP-Certified Batch Production

ATEX-rated production environment for flammable acid products. Full electronic batch records, acid strength verification, and NABL-accredited CoA before dispatch.
