Stability through processing and in the pond

Better survival rates, faster growth-to-harvest weight, and lower mortality-related losses — these are the outcomes our aquaculture premixes are engineered to deliver. The science behind them addresses two distinct stability fronts. During feed manufacturing, vitamins must survive steam conditioning and extrusion — high-fat diets accelerate oxidation of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E during pelleting. Once in the water, water-soluble vitamins — especially unprotected vitamin C — leach rapidly from the pellet before fish can consume them.

Our aquaculture premixes address both stability challenges: fat-soluble vitamins use oxidation-protected forms with antioxidant co-encapsulation to survive the manufacturing process, and water-soluble vitamins use encapsulated or chemically stable forms (ascorbyl-2-phosphate in place of ascorbic acid) together with low-hygroscopicity carrier systems that minimise leaching from the pellet in water. Oxidation resistance in high-fat diets

Fat-soluble vitamins A, D3, and E selected in protected forms with antioxidant co-encapsulation to survive the heat and pressure of steam conditioning and extrusion in high-lipid salmon and marine finfish feeds — validated through accelerated oxidation testing.

Vitamin C: obligate dietary requirement for fish

Most cultured teleost fish species — including salmon, tilapia, shrimp, and catfish — lack functional L-gulonolactone oxidase activity and cannot synthesize ascorbic acid endogenously. Dietary vitamin C is an obligate requirement. This is why form selection matters: unprotected ascorbic acid degrades rapidly during pelleting and leaches from pellets in water before fish consume it. Our premixes use ascorbyl-2-phosphate — a heat-stable, water-resistant ester that releases active vitamin C in the gut.
